SCHOOL LIFE (Kerala part 3)

Hey pals am back!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the exciting things in ma life in kerala were the schools days…..those days were really rocking, it may be due the fact that I studied in the same school for 13 long years. I am really proud that I was one of their oldest students. Oh I forgot to tell the school name la….Its “ASSISI EMHSS” Kanjikode (hey kanjikode is the place name) sited just 5 Km from ma house, its convent run by sisters or nun. One of the enthralling things that comes to ma mind when I think bout school life is the name I kept for a small pimple that happened to appear on ma chin…In Malayalam they used to cal tht as “Pal unni”, students were made to talk oly in English since it was a convent, interesting matter here s tht one of ma teachers pointed at ma pimple and asked what it is????? Poor ladLLL (hey its me oly) dint know its pimple, instead of saying it as pimple he invented a new name for it…its “Milk Baby” startling ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..he just translated each of the words in Malayalam to English……So “Pal” means Milk and “Unni” means baby in Malayalam and this whiz kid named tht small pimple as milk baby. On hearing that everybody in the staff room started laughing like anything and there after all started calling him “Milk Baby!!!!!” ha ha ha ha nice name ah…..Anyway that lasted for one or two years oly. Think this incident happened when I was studying in ma 1st or 2nd grade……. Life was really a chill out till ma tenth grade, enjoyed to the core..Ma best friends in school were Deepak, Nikhil, rajesh, Sudha sivendre,kishore…..Specially Deepak, Nikhil and I were really close together. Deepak and kishore studied with me from first to tenth , Nikhil joined in fourth grade, Rajesh and Sudha joined in eight grade and sivendre from fourth grade.

During tenth grade Deepak shifted to a place called alathur which was 50 Kms from school, he found it very difficult during exams times, so he was with me in ma house during final sem exams (both got evn more close that time). To say bout Deepak, a nice tall guy with manly looks, a good athlete (a triple jumper) good at academics as well as athletics, He completed his BE.Mech in Kovai. Coming to Nikhil, a typical keralite (kottayam), tall guy,Man all of ma friends were very much lofty, except me. I was just 5 ft (ma realtives call me “kullan” shorty, anyway now am 5 ft 10 in,thts ok ), comin back to Nikhil, he s a nice chap with cool temperament. He s doin his Computer science engg in his native place. Thank God Rajesh was bout ma height oly. He s great dancer, karate guy and a good table tennis player too, charming guy with lots of attitude and he s doin his marine engg in Cusat kerala. Sudha one of ma first friend (who s a girl), got close together via rajesh, very good at extra curricular activities and she s doin her post graduation in chemistry in kovai. Next s sivendre, he s also bit short, finicky guy with great analytical skills, completed his BE.Mech in Salem. Once he was great follower of RSS and hindutva, donno whats the situation now.

Guys guys I may be irritating u by describing bout ma friends. But donno friends have become one of the integral parts of ma life. Ppl at home shouts at me for always hanging around with friends. Anyway to sadness I don’t have much contact with above said chaps (oly fond memories haunt me). Once fearsome trio (ha ha don’t laugh..its me Deepak and nikhil) decided that we will be studying together for higher secondary in the same school…..but fat…oops sorry fate separated us by great distance. I came to Kovai, Deepak went to Alathur and Nikhil went to kottayam…All three were separated by at least 100 KmsL (ok ok cool down sreeni, not hard feelings ). Anyway during the time we were together we had gala time be it be youth festival or sports day.

During ma school days I was a great actor (I mean drama artist), where ever the name drama comes, ma name would be there in the list. Our school continuously won first for three years in Sub-district youth festival (anyhow we would fail miserably in district level), it was during one district level competition, one guy approached me for castin me in his serial in Asianet. I said ok that time and ready to join. It may be kerala viewers luck I think, cause that guy vanished all of sudden. Next comes Kolkali (it’s a typical muslim event, very much practiced in northen parts of kerala viz malapuram kottayam ). It was one of the events in youth festival in kerala. We got first in district level and went for state competition and represented Palakkad district (got A grade in that). One of the nice things that Kerala government did s that, for those getting A grades in competitions which are held at state level, they will get 30 bonus marks in Tenth grade. In that way I got some 5 marks or so (there s an upper cut off also). Anyhow state competition was held at Alapuzha durin 2003. A full school bus started from our school for that competition, we got oly one second prize in margamkali(in which Sudha was a member).

Will come up with even more much incidents that took place in ma school in the upcoming blogs……U know guys!!!!!!! I am finding it very much exhilarating writing blogs now a days…. By the way this also helps me in improving ma typing speed besides taking away ma veti time at home……meet u soon guys

Regards,
Sreeni

KERALA PART 2

As the days passed slowly people starting moving out of our area as well as our squad members, Krishna slowly kept out of cricket and started concentrating in his studies, new includes were Dhanesh, Anthony. Team relied on them more. We shifted our ground to ITI quarters. Though the spirit of cricket was very much high on our squad, our win loss ratio was around 1:10. An unforgettable moment in cricketing life in kerala was the day when we won our first tournament. It was during one of the winter breaks in 02-03.

Enough of cricket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me move on to the wonderful temple over there near our ground. Initially there were oly two Gods-- lord vinayaka and lord muruga (don't worry there were no fights in between them, cause I dint have any fruit with me, even if I had I had those in even numbers), but the temple has been renovated and now they've included their bro "Ayyapan (I mean lord ayyapan….o'kee'iii)" and its really awesome sight to look at from the road…(if possible will upload the photo). U know I really like the temples in kerala specially cause they keep the temple premises and surroundings unsoiled. Wow guys!!!!! One should go there and see, such a peaceful place.
Next to that is our age old club "----->", what???couldn't get me ah…its our club name---' "Flying arrows"(comedy name la), its junior's team name was "Shining arrows" ----we christened it. It was built in 1980's or so. At the outset everybody was interested in improving the club and its name, but finally populace started discussing politics and club slowly started degrading itself and now it is there just for namesake or buildingsake….Anyway during the 99-03 period(club and its name was on its peak) its members used to organize club day customarily during durin some feb Sundays. People of different ages assemble there, will have all sort of competitions from quiz, fancy dress, water(hey its just malampuzha mineral water, don't think too much) drinking competition etc etc and I remember once when one guy(Ranjith) drank 17 glasses of water in water drinkin competition, MAN!!!! Donno how he drank and all but drank (may kept a tank inside his tank), anyway he vomited the whole after tht thing s over. One more competition in which one has to eat bitter guard….ha ha ha ma mom was also there in that competition, but she could eat oly 4 of them while the winner ate 9 of them (ma GOD , these ppl are really crazy ah). And one more called "Uri Adikkal" in which a blindfolded person has to break a pot which s kept at some elevated position, one guy in the name of tht competition broke one guy's head instead pot.

Hey guys this blogger won some second place in fancy dress competition (was in appu raja costume and for ppl in tamilnadu I was in Aboorva Sagotharargal china kamal style), it was bit tough to be in that costume, anyway much of the credit should goto Dinesh (family friend). WOW man "those were also the best days of life (lighta copied from one song)"!!!!!!!!!!!!These three(temple ground and club) were the pass times for this lad after school hours… At this moment I should mention bout our family friends also...Dinesh and magesh (sons of Chandru uncle), prakash (son of palanisaami uncle), karthik (son of ganesh) were the ones I spent ma time durin family tour. Dinesh and magesh both of them working are here in Chennai where as karthik doin his Marine studies in Chennai and Prakash working in Nigeria...

Ohhhhh did I forget something to tel ya----yeah its bout school…..Dont worry will update ya in the upcoming blogs…….Hey folks ma blogs may be bit boring or irritating or it may be like bubble gum stretching , but u don't have much option left, cause u're also that much veti(idle) to read that…if u're so, then think of ma position guys, so veti at house (dint mean anything--just kidding )….. (----'U know this blog writing slowly improving ma vocabulary as well as ma remembering power bout ma good old days, am just flipping thro ma own book now)…. Hey am tired of taking rests, so gonna take rest again for that (rest eduthu rest eduthu tires aiyethen adhaan rest edukka poren)…will be back soon with some more stories….bye bye
cheers

KERALA life(PART 1)

I did ma schooling in Kerala till tenth grade and did higher secondary grade (two years) in Coimbatore (TamilNadu),first will describe bout Kerala and then proceed with the rest later.

KERALA
Kerala described as “God’s own country” by everyone, but I seriously donno when Kerala became an independent nation!!!!!!! What ever it may be it’s really an awesome place to live in and do preliminary education not more than that, cause of series of strikes (they call it hartal now). Whenever hartal comes it’ll be nice time for kids as they can play be it the ground or National Highway (all will be empty that hartal day).
GROUND
Turning the focus to ma workplace (ie GROUND where I used to play initially till fifth grade ), Ground is in front of one Ganesh temple and to the side we’ve our famous club “Flying Arrows” and other side we’ve the road and houses. Actually the ground s bit small, but since ma age was also small, the ground seemed like a big stadium for us. Classes will be over by half past three and will reach home by 15.50 and will aajar in the ground by exact 4.10. Then will wait for others to come. Its fascinating that I still remembers ma team members. They are
1. Krishna kumar (captain)
2. Govind alias Sreenivasan alias myself
3. Arun kumar (bro of krishna)
4. Sunny alias sharath menon
5. Rajasekhar
6. Ratheesh
7. Mr (Mister) alias mohamed shahadhatulla
8. Sonu alias Shahazam
Our side was just of eight members and other three members we’ll pick from adjacent colony. Krishna leaves just opposite to ma house and was really damm strict when it comes to cricket, so oly he was the captain, his little bro Arun was the notorious guy in our team as he was the youngest in the squad. Next comes sunny or sharath (we call him sunny) s a nice charming guy and lives adjacent to ma house. Raja leaves in the next street and he rarely comes for practice (I mean day to day games) but will be there in the spot whenever a match comes and the same goes with ratheesh also.
Next comes two of ma best friends in Kerala Mr and sonu. Both came from bihar and now settled in Kerala now with their family Don’t mistake me, we’re not givin so much respect to him and call Mr. Just that when he first came to kerala (way back in 1999) he said his name as “mohammed shahadhatulla” and ma mom couldn’t get tht the in the exact way and thought it as something terrible and christened him as “Mister”. He s a tall guy with “titanic jack” style hair cut, really cool headed with great flair for friendship and helping mind. Think now he s workin in SriLanka….Poor fella spoiled his carrier by goin for work in early days itself (anyway his family demanded that time). His little bro Sonu alias shahazam with whom I spend more time whenever am in Kerala after I came out of kerala. Nice guy with great thirst for knowledge and studies……

Will come up with others things in kerala soon……..
